The Russian city of St Petersburg, sited on both sides of the river Neva, has been compaired to Venice due to the palaces and waterside walkways. St Petersburg flights arrive at Pulkovo airport then a 30/40 minute bus journey takes you to Moskovoskaya metro station where you can travel on to different parts of the city. There are also shuttle mini-buses. Public transport in St Petersburg is efficient and incredibly cheap.
