Gerona weekend breaks

The vast majority of weekend city break tourists arrive via Ryanair, flying into Gerona airport, then carry on by bus or train to Barcelona or onward for package holidays on the Costa Brava resorts. Now things are changing as more people discover the delights of Gerona, where just a short journey from the airport you can enjoy weekend breaks in a city that is far more Spanish than "tourist". The medieval, well preserved, Jewish center is at the heart of Girona and is a "must do" along with the vast Girona Cathedral, the Art Museam and also the Arab Baths. On long weekend breaks Girona is a great center, leave the city for a day to visit the Pyrenees, Figueres the birthplace of Salvador Dalí, Besalu with it's medieval Roman bridge or the sun, sea and sand of the Costa Brava holiday beaches! Girona airport also gives easy access to the eastern Pyrenees ski resorts for skiing and snowboarding fans.

For flights into Gerona airport there is a short 25 minute bus transfer to the city. Gerona bus station is the same location for the rail station if you wish to travel on for Barcelona breaks.
