One great thing about Cologne breaks is the short flight time from the UK meaning you get the most from a long weekend in the city. Cologne city center is pedestrianised making a relaxed stress free area for shopping, eating at pavement cafes and people watching. The main shopping areas are around the cathedral (a "must visit" on any Cologne breaks) and you may pick up some good out of season deals in the designer shops and boutiques! Cologne sits by the Rhine and there are some nice walkways by the river but better still take a boat trip for a couple of hours to see the city from a different perspective.
